Dynamic Earth

A stereoscopic 360 degree experience. An interactive way for visitors to the Melbourne Museum to discover the processes leading to the formation of the Earth.

Gold nuggets, giant crystals and uncut diamonds star in Dynamic Earth, a stunning exhibition that uses cutting-edge technology and thousands of minerals to tell the story of our ever-changing planet.This highly visual and immersive exhibition explores the story of the Earth's formation, structure and power through extensive displays of Museum Victoria's impressive geology collection in combination with spectacular and interactive multimedia.Visitors at the Rio Tinto Volcanic 3D in AVIE by iCinema UNSW.

Visitors will be surrounded by an active volcano in Rio Tinto Volcanic 3D in AVIE by iCinema UNSW, a fully immersive and interactive 3D cinema exhibit, and experience scientifically accurate computer animations of a variety of volcanic activities ranging from underwater volcanos to journeying down a lava tunnel following an eruption.

Role:
I delivered the Dynamic Earth project while Technical Director at the iCinema Centre. I played a role of project manager, 3D consultant for this project. The project invovled both hardware specification and installation, of an iCinema AVIE system. As well we developed an interactive software application, displaying assets produced by Melbourne Museum, in an innovative 3D experience.

Museum Victoria has been recognised for the use of cutting-edge new technology in exhibition design with an American Association of Museums Gold MUSE Award.
